The consular services of the French Embassy in Abuja and the French Consulate in Lagos evaluate visa applications submitted in Nigeria; only the Embassy and Consulate have the authority to make visa decisions.
For short-stay visa applications, please submit them at least one month before your intended departure date.
Allow at least two months between filing your long-stay visa application and your scheduled departure date.

For security purposes, the following things cannot be carried into the center:
- Any battery-powered device or electronic equipment such as a camera, video camera, MP3 player, CD player, cassette player (or any other portable music player), computer, or tablet.
- Any bag save a plastic bag with the necessary application documents or a small handbag;
- Avoid any sealed packages or envelopes, as well as inflammable materials like lighters and matches.
- Any sharp objects, such as knives, scissors, etc.
- Any weapon or explosive.
The preceding list is not exhaustive. Other things may be restricted by the center’s security personnel.
The Visa Application Center cannot store or keep any forbidden materials. As a result, visa applicants must ensure they follow the requirements before entering the center.
Practical facts on your appointment at the visa application centers
To submit your application at one of the TLSContact application centers, you must be present in person.
When preparing for your appointment, please remember to bring:
- Your passport must have the same number as on your appointment letter.
- Cash or a debit card can be used to pay the Visa fees.
- Your application must include all required documents in the correct order as specified in the list of supporting documents, as well as one set of original documents and one set of copies in A4 size.
Please keep in mind that if you have missing papers, you have the option of not submitting your application and scheduling another appointment (in which case TLSContact service fees must be paid again), or you can submit and sign a document indicating the missing documents.
An application with all accompanying documentation does not guarantee that your visa will be granted.

Biometric data collection: France solely provides biometric visas.
Applicants must be at least 12 years old on the day of their visit for biometric data to be collected: a photograph (photo or scan) and ten fingers.
It is possible to obtain applicants’ biometric data if a Schengen visa was issued less than 59 months ago.
Children under the age of 12 are exempt from biometric data gathering. One of their parents or a person who is legally responsible for them must submit their application.r ISO/IEC-format photograph (pdf) will be scanned.

Do you have a special case?
Visa applicants holding official or diplomatic passports (with Note Verbale) are exempt from the TLScontact website’s obligatory appointment booking and service charge prepayment requirement. They are encouraged to visit TLSContact’s visa facilities in Abuja and Lagos. To be admitted, their visa application must include a Note Verbale.
For Lagos, you must schedule an appointment online.
They must obtain a short-stay visa; however, holders of TIC passports are free from airport transit visas if they travel through France.
Visas for official passport holders are free. They do not pay any visa or service fees.
To obtain an “A” Airport Transit Visa (VTA), you must have a regular Nigerian passport, a long-stay visa or residence permit from your final destination, stay in the international area of the airport in France (or the Netherlands for applications submitted in Lagos), and travel outside the Schengen area.
The French Embassy in Lagos
The French Consulate General in Lagos exclusively represents two Schengen States for the issuing of short-stay visas: Lithuania and the Netherlands.
Visa applications for Lithuania or the Netherlands as a single or main destination must be filed in Lagos with the TLScontact visa center after scheduling an appointment and paying the online service charge.
Visa Application Process: To prepare their application, study visa applicants should first visit the Campus France website.
Fees
Your France visa application fee is comprised of:
- The French administration collects visa application fees (pdf) for processing your application. TLSContact collects the visa costs directly on behalf of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Only cards issued in local currency are acceptable for payment of these fees. Payment of the application cost does not entitle the applicant to a visa, and these fees are non-refundable, even if the administration rejects the application or the applicant cancels it.
- TLS Service Fees: TLSContact collects service costs of 28 euros, which are payable online using the official French exchange rate. They are not refundable in the event of a cancellation of the appointment. The service fee was agreed upon with the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and corresponds to the various services provided by TLSContact (receipt of visa applications, data processing, information collection, appointment booking, etc.).
- Visa applicants also have the option of optional paid services. You can choose them when you schedule an appointment on the TLSContact website.
